“Transforming the Cove”
Once an under-utilized eyesore, the Cove was dotted with storage tanks from the petroleum industry. After remediation, Crawford began the master plan of a new entertainment destination. The Darwin Cove master plan included a 250-room hotel and 1,200 residential units. A wave pool, parking garage, shopping, restaurants, and other public amenities are featured throughout the plan.
The centerpiece of the development is the Convention & Exhibition Centre. The Centre accommodates everything from sports to conventions and is part of a larger development. The design won the 2008 Urban Task Force Award for Mixed-Use Projects and was featured in the 2008 AIA Exhibition at the Block Art Gallery in Kansas City.
