“A Purpose-Built Home for Jackrabbit Soccer”
South Dakota State University
Dakota Layers Stadium & Shared Athletics Support Facility
Crawford Architects is currently serving as Architect-of-Record for SDSU’s new Dakota Layers Stadium, creating the first dedicated on-campus home for Jackrabbit Women’s Soccer. Located adjacent to Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, the project will establish a premier competition venue designed to elevate the student-athlete and fan experience while strengthening recruiting and enhancing the visibility of one of the nation’s premier women’s soccer programs. The new stadium will feature a competition-grade natural grass pitch, permanent grandstand and press box, field lighting, videoboard, and premium game-day amenities, culminating in an exciting and intimate atmosphere for players and supporters alike.
Complementing the stadium, the adjacent locker room building will provide game-day amenities to support the university’s soccer, baseball, and softball programs. The facility will house modern locker rooms, team support spaces, coaches’ offices, and shared operational amenities which simultaneously maximize asset value and operational efficiency. Together, the stadium and support facility represent a transformational investment in Jackrabbit Soccer, reinforcing the university’s commitment to championship-caliber facilities and providing a lasting destination for student-athletes and fans.
