“Leading the Transformation of the Swamp”…Bigger. Better. Louder.
The University of Florida is undertaking a once-in-a-generation transformation of historic Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, known colloquially as “The Swamp.” The redevelopment will reimagine one of college football’s most iconic venues while preserving the traditions, atmosphere, and competitive legacy that have defined Florida Gators football for nearly a century.
The multi-phase project will enhance every aspect of the game-day experience for all fans. Through planned improvements including expanded concourses, upgraded concessions and restrooms, improved accessibility, elevated premium hospitality experiences, enhanced technology infrastructure, and state-of-the-art video and audio capabilities; the design balances modern amenities and operational efficiencies with a commitment to maintaining the energy and character that makes The Swamp one of the sport’s most recognizable home-field advantages.
Crawford Architects serves as Architect of Record, providing overall design leadership throughout the project’s design and construction. Our team includes Gensler (Associate Architect), Thornton Tomasetti (Structural Engineer), Henderson Engineers (MEPF Engineering), NV5 (Civil Engineering), Duray (Food Service) and WJHW (Technology). CSL / Legends will serve the project as Owner’s Representative, and the joint venture between Manhattan Construction | AECOM Hunt will serve the project as Construction Managers.
The renovation is targeted for completion ahead of the 2030 football season and carries a projected investment of approximately $1.45 billion making the transformation of the Swamp one of the largest facility renovations in college athletics. Led by Crawford Architects, planning and design has been ongoing since 2022. Construction is anticipated to begin following the 2026 football season and will remain operational during all phases of construction.
