Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium

“A Stadium Created to Inspire Champions”

To be more competitive in the Division I Missouri Valley Football Conference, increase revenue and attract top student-athletes, South Dakota State University needed to replace their 51-year old stadium. In response to this need, Crawford Architects designed a $65 million, 19,300-seat football stadium. The stadium was designed to bring the tailgate inside through many gathering areas.

Amenities include a four-level press/suite tower that houses two kitchens, an indoor club, 24 executive/private suites, 150 loge seats, and media/coaching areas. The facility features suites for the Athletic Director and University President. The indoor club has access to 1,200 exterior premium seats. New student and general admission seating were designed on three sides, creating a “horseshoe” design. Restrooms, concessions, operation and support facilities, novelty areas, and a new synthetic turf field finalized the project.
